This spring, our Chinese Storytime event was a resounding success, with about 20 families joining us to celebrate the season and enjoy a delightful morning of stories and performances. The event took place at 10 AM at the South County Library, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as children and parents gathered to immerse themselves in the beauty of Chinese literature.
Our event kicked off with Ms. Julie reading enchanting Chinese stories that captivated the young audience. She read "The Cow's Spring" and "小蝌蚪找妈妈" ("Little Tadpoles Looking for Their Mother"). Her engaging storytelling skills brought the tales to life, and the children listened with wide-eyed wonder, soaking in every word. The stories she chose were perfect for the season, filled with themes of growth, renewal, and the beauty of nature.
Two books Ms. Julie read:
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Ms. Julie's daughter treated us to a mesmerizing dance performance, "Peach Blossom Smile." Her graceful movements and vibrant costume brought the spirit of spring to our gathering, leaving everyone in awe. The dance was a beautiful representation of the blossoming season, and it was clear that a lot of effort and practice had gone into perfecting the performance.
The event was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the rich traditions of Chinese culture. It was heartwarming to see parents and children engaging in discussions about the stories and the dance, deepening their appreciation for Chinese heritage.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us and made this event so special. A big thank you to Ms. Julie and her daughter for their fantastic contributions, and to all the families for their enthusiastic participation. We look forward to more storytime events in the future, where we can continue to explore the wonders of Chinese literature and culture together.
Stay tuned for our next event, and we hope to see you all there!
